Neds, owned by former Ladbrokes Boss, Dean Shannon, has embarked on a new, and impressive, bookie called Neds. The site hasn’t been live for long, but it did sneak its way in before Spring Carnival 2017, and boy did it do a good job of it!
With a massive range of markets, and arguably the best racing odds, Neds has been the Aussie Bookie that nobody saw coming. The website has now been launched in Australia, but they’re planning to shoot for the stars – with the UK Platform also getting involved in 2018.
There’s also cheeky reports Neds will be offering online lotteries at some point in addition to bookmaking. In the same year, they launched the UK Website, Neds were sold to Ladbrokes, and the rest is history!
Shannon’s experience with Ladbrokes definitely brought another Racing site to life. This new agency is really strongly delivered from the get go, the easy user interface, bright orange colours, and drop down menus, all part of the swift and innovative design. This is seen when you arrive at first sight, which is so rare for a site in its infancy.
The website, of course, uses that all-familiar three-panel setup, made popular by Australia’s monopolising betting agency, Neds. It goes through the same motions, Sport and Racing menu on the left, markets in the middle, bet slip on the right. Neds site is nice, clear and clean… with simple menu options that point you in the direction you didn’t even realise you were looking for.
For such a new betting agency, even the most experienced punter would take one look at the site and think “look at all those markets!” Really, given the infancy of the company, the extensive range of markets offered is simply outstanding. They’re definitely able to compete with some of the major online agencies in Australia already… *cough* Ladbrokes *cough*. You can already find markets for the following sports:
Those final 2 markets, Snooker and Darts, are a true testimate to the site’s agency and longevity power. Most Aussie sites tend to stay away from those unique sports, and Neds have put them front and centre, making their markets all the more niche.
International Sporting Markets
Neds offer this broad range of sport on more than just the regular Australian and American matches. At the time of inception, there was observations that Neds offered markets for domestic football leagues in 47. Countries, including Oman and Indonesia.

Neds do offer a Sign-Up bonus, up to the value of $250, this means if you deposit $50, you’ll get $50 back in bonus bets, if you deposit $100, you get $100 back in bonus bets, and vice versa. These usually surround the races, including 3+ leg race Multi’s, if one leg fails, you get your money back!
Following every other Australian Betting Website, the screen utilises a responsive web template that will tailor the display size of the web to suit the screen size of your device.
This is particularly helpful when you’re trying to have to web pages open at once (or to place a cheeky punt at work!) you will see either one, two or three columns on your Neds web page dependant on where the screen is placed and how much you’ve minimised the screen side.
The bet slip may also be cut off if you minimise the screen enough.
The three-column layout once again displays the site navigation and the popular sports on the left, markets and odds in the centre and the betting slip on the right. The betting slip can be hidden, online other betting agencies, and is displayed only if you choose to view it.
If you want to see more nice sports, click on the left column where the popular sports are displayed, and a greater array of sports will appear in a gird format.
The way that the markets and odds on Neds Website and Mobile divide makes it obvious the template is designed to cater for touch screen devices, such as phones and tablets, due to its blocky, simple to select vibe. This works particularly well for mobile devices, but can look spread out and difficult to display concise odds for laptop users.
Head-to-head odds are shown by default on bot mobile and laptop, given it is the most popular market. Next to all of these fixtures is a link to view all markets, whilst also showing you how many markets are available to punt on. Think:
When you select an item to place a bet on, the interface will them pop up with a ‘Quick Slip’ option, giving you your own list of stakes to choose from, once again, the most popular punt amounts.
This includes $0.50, $1, $5, $10, $20, or a text box where you’re able to input your own chosen stake. You are also able to edit the default list of stakes to select from in the account area, if you have a specific bet size you usually punt with.
Live betting during a race is absolutely fantastic on the Neds App or Website, they display the favourite at the top, as well as 3 other runners, and the field, with odds fluctuating dependant on the horse’s placing. Unfortunately, you are unable to live bet on sporting events without calling, due to Australia’s gambling Policy.
When you click add to bet slip you will then receive a confirmation button that allows you to confirm or deny your bet. Once pressed, the bet slip will not be displayed by default. Instead, you rather navigate to the top right of the site or app, and click on the ‘Bet Slip’ link. This link will then have a number net to it which will tell you how many pending bets you’ve placed.
If you click on this link in full, you’re able to check out all your pending bets.
Now, this is essentially what Neds’ sole purpose lies in. Horse Racing with Neds is one of the best experiences in punting, with the racing menu highly intuitive, and designed for mobile users in mind.
The best thing about Neds Horse Racing is it displays all of the events for the day at once. The horse, greyhound and harness icons at the top enable you to toggle on and off the display of each of these categories.
Another fantastic thing about this interface is the order in which the races are shown. The most popular events of the day are found at the top, following down to the bottom. Egg.
Flemington: Race 1, Race 2, Race 3, Race 4, Race 5, Race 6, Race 7, Race 8, Race 9
Sandown: Race 1, Race 2, Race 3, Race 4, Race 5, Race 6, Race 7, Race 8, Race 9
Rockhampton: Race 1, Race 2, Race 3, Race 4, Race 5, Race 6, Race 7, Race 8, Race 9
Betting is also offered on venues in Australia and New Zealand, as per usual, but also includes many overseas turfs such as Hong Kong, Japan, USA, India, Ireland and the UK.
In terms of features, it’s easy to say the Neds racing interface is the best of the lot. The standard race field is one thing, but the odds are also higher than any other betting agency available. There’s better markets, and the website provide a full form guide, with racing comments that are lengthy and informative. There’s also a money tracker, to see which horses are receiving the most wages, fluctuations and graphs, a speed map, features bets, suggested runners and more. The race favourite is also highlighted with a yellow icon, and estimated tote odds are displayed in addition to fixed odds.
It also assists in state-by-state betting, with exotics allowing you to select between VIC, NSW and QLD totes. Flexi betting is also readily available, whereby you choose Quinellas, Exactas, Trifectas, First Fours or Quadrellas at an outlay to suit your own budget. And of course, ‘Bet Boost’ is available to boost any fixed odds you have your eye on.
This Neds review is extremely positive, and on this note, we would recommend this bookie for all betting. It isn’t the fastest growing Australian bookie for nothing!
